This year has been an exciting year of variety and change, I successfully interviewed in January and was offered a position at the University of Nottingham (which had been the first place I had applied to when advised I was being made redundant), I think it was my third application and second interview for UoN. I feel very privileged to be working for the Estates team based in the beautiful University Park with its long and exciting history and amazing surroundings. While finding my feet, and spending many lunch breaks exploring my work location, I feel my new role is offering me an opportunity to develop and learn many new skills and contribute to an outstanding institution so important to my city and the education of so many.

My current role
Team Member in BT Business Movers department with many years of experience of working professionally in demanding customer service environments. First point of contact utilising time management skills to triage and prioritise a high volume of customer contacts, delivery an outstanding service experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills gained from dealing with suppliers and customers of all levels; recording and rapidly responding to stakeholder issues sensitively via phone, email, webchat and in person.
Extremely reliable member of a busy service team, independently managing own caseload. Organised, motivated and highly adaptable using technical skills and in-depth knowledge to problem solve and deliver to deadlines and finding innovative solutions, with fine attention to detail to optimise problem resolution and maintain user satisfaction.
Estates and Facilities Helpdesk
I have loved my current role as a BT Business Movers Service Manager, I act as a single point of contact, project managing business customer who are moving premises, ensuring minimised disruption to services and maintaining connectivity. Ordering services, equipment and engineering work for voice and broadband services, resolving billing enquiries and providing technical support. I was directly involved with setting up the team, devising processes and providing ongoing training for new and established team members.
Event Stewarding
I also work part time as an event steward at the National Ice Arena dealing face to face with the public. I enjoy the opportunity to view the variety of events; sport, dance, comedy and music, this gives me the opportunity to utilise my excellent customer service skills by supporting the wide range of people who visit the arena.

I have completed training in crowd management and event security and safety.
It is all change for me in 2024, after three decades of customer service for BT Business, Openreach and BT, September brought an end to my BT career. Building and site closures, and a reduction in staff numbers, means that there is no longer a role for me in the company. I am currently actively seeking and applying for my next role. This is a chance for me to find something new for the next stage of my career. While this has been a shock and quite scary, it is also very exciting. I am lucking forward to throwing myself into new challenges, transferring my skills, and bringing my talents to a new role. I have been successful in getting through to interview for a couple of positions, but am still applying, hoping to find the right position soon.

Home Renovations
Our house is an ongoing renovation project, recently I have added new stairs to the basement and new flooring in our lower level. Previously we added a loft conversion with an new master bedroom and bathroom.

Living Room makeover.
We have nearly finished a quick living room brighten up (very long over due) as current finances do not justify a full makeover

- see gallery here.
New Cupboard.
My latest project has been converting the shelves I made many years ago into a more sophisticated cupboard complete with soft close doors.

Family trips and Caravan modifications

I have a 1980s vintage caravan which I have remodelled and modified over time to suit our family needs as the children grew from baby and toddler to teenagers, this allows us to enjoy holidays with friends, by the sea and attend festivals with a bit more comfort.
Here are a number of photo albums recording some of the changes made to the caravan over the years....
Over the last few years we have enjoyed taking our daughters on some exciting city breaks to Barcelona, Copenhagen and Brussels and look forward to our next cultural travels.

Other Interests

I enjoyed working as a DJ in various city venues, allowing me the opportunity to use and acquaint myself with a range of sound, light and audio-visual equipment, and I now utilise some of this expertise when volunteering at my daughters’ dance school events; recording and digitally sharing performances,

building stage props, operating lighting equipment and performing maintenance around the studio.

My love of music, media and technology have led me to create a home cinema, utilising networked media storage and I also maintain basic websites utilising content management systems and editing digital media. I have recently been expanding my knowledge through LinkedIn Learning and completed a number of courses relating to Service Desk, IT and Microsoft Office applications.
